Backyard bounty is very excited to be partnering with the University of Guelph to organize...

The Urban Agriculture Conference for November 21st 2009!

This conference will be a working conference bringing together key players from the local food system to set objectives and tasks that will move the Urban Agriculture movement forward! Stay Tuned for more details!

Now accepting yard applications for 2010....

Thats right! We are now accepting applications for yards for next year, so please tell your friends, neighbours and co-workers. After starting nearly 30 gardens from sod this year we are definitely seeing the value of getting a jump start on next year and are hoping to prep yards later this season for the following spring. So get those yard applications in, infact you can apply right on our website.

Always accepting volunteers......

Backyard Bounty wants to thank all the amazing volunteers that have already come out and invite more amazing volunteers to come join us. We have lots of fun digging in the dirt and it is a wonderful opportunity for social cross-pollination!

Harvest Update

Our First CSA delivery was successful, thanks to our helpful harvesting volunteers and awesome staff! We delivered lovely baskets of Arugula, Spinach, Speckled Trout Lettuce, Baby Kale, Mint, Oregano, Chives and tomato plants, and had just a few minor glitches (like the van breaking down). Thanks  to everyone for their patience as we learn the route and work out the kinks. We have had rave reviews of the first share, one member sent an email saying,...."Our salad this evening was so plentiful and beautiful we invited neighbours for dinner. What a wonderful harvest!" We love to hear back from members about sharing the harvest in their communities. After all gathering around food is part of what makes going local so much fun!

With our first harvest's coming in now we hope to be seeing you at the Guelph Farmers Market, starting this Saturday June 20th, What a great way to Start Summer.

Happy Summer Solstice everyone!
